O Week: Tuesday. Laser Tag, Block Parties and Fraping

Tuesday started out pretty well, with about half of Evatt (around 100 people) heading over to Wallsend for Laser Tag. We went to laser tag in Charlestown the previous week, and this time was much bigger and so much better! I’m pretty keen to get there just as a block for a few games because it was so much fun.

The next few hours were spent recovering from the previous night, then at 2:30 we had some information on Hello Sunday Morning. It’s pretty much a program you can do where you don’t drink for 3 months. It might not be your piece of cake, but I think I’m actually pretty keen to take part in it. Apart from the health benefits and free extras like skydiving and gym memberships, you also learn how to go out and have a good time without alcohol. I know it sounds ridiculous, but a lot of people I know could do with a lesson on this. Anyway, it was quite a bit more informative than expected, and we got free shit!

Tuesday night was our ‘block dinner’. I’m not sure how much of this experience I should divulge, but it pretty much was a block party all in one flat with about 60L of alcohol in total, drinking games and a little something I learned called tactical spewing. There were a lot of secrets spilled, a fair bit of dancing on tables, spewing, then Stefan put me to bed at about 10:30 so I can’t really say what happened after that (or before that really). I do remember stealing a gold headband out of Louis' room. Yeah.
Hannah and I - before dying but after stealing aforementioned gold headband.

Oh, and I was facebook raped (fraped). Here’s what it looked like.

I'll get my butt into gear and finish my O Week posts soon, before I move onto the general fun of Uni life and living on campus!

O Week Continues: Monday

On Monday morning, all of H block (my block) walked over to the Shortland building for the Expo. It had a lot of stalls, ranging from Bible Study groups to Atheist societies, Soccer clubs to Quidditch, as well as quite a few bars and clubs. After signing up for all the bars, a few sports, Drama club and the gym, it was back to H for nanny naps.

Monday night was a night out at the Waratah pub. All the returners dressed up, our H block returners wore ripped up flannies and bad hair, while others donned princess dresses and 80s makeup or hard hats. The H block freshers wore our Evatt O Week shirts. When we arrived at the Waratah pub, affectionately known as the ‘Tah’, the karaoke began. It was a pretty great night filled with dancing, drinking (except me- I was still recovering) and really bad sing a longs.

We trekked back to Evatt, and our block Dad came and had a chat to Sarah and I. While he is usually very interesting, he’s even more so while in a drunken state. We now have video footage of Robbie being a ‘colourful cockatiel’ and trying to be a pirate. He also passed out on our lounge and we covered him in permanent marker. It was excellent.

And that pretty much sums up Monday.

Orientation Week: Sunday!

Sunday night was the first night of O Week, and it started pretty tamely. I spent the afternoon decorating my wall, and then I was sick and in bed by 4pm. I was interrupted quite a few times during the evening by Robbie, my RA as well as Sarah and Bek. It seemed like they had a pretty wild night, but I slept until 9am the next day.

So that was Sunday. Trust me, it got much better after that...

Here's a photo of my wall for your viewing pleasure. I quite enjoy it.
